netPrefect™ can monitor and manage devices/applications via one or more of the following mechanisms:
- Device initiated TCP/IP - a raw TCP/IP connection initiated by a remote device/application which transmits ASCII data
- Log File - any log file available to the netPrefect device management component (e.g. local or via a windows share of nfs mount point)
- Raw TCP/IP - a raw TCP/IP connection initiated by netPrefect to a remote device/application which transmits ASCII data
- SMTP - any incoming SMTP message which conforms to RFC 788 and RFC 2821
- SNMP - any device which supports SNMP V1 or V2c
- SNMP Trap -any device that sends SNMP V1 or V2c traps
- SSH - any device which supports a remote SSH connection
- SYSLOG - any device which has the ability to remotely log using the SYSLOG protocol
- Telnet -any device which supports a remote Telnet connection
- Telnet (using SSL protocol) -any device which supports an SSL secured remote Telnet connection
- Reachability - tests for reachability of the managed device using either ICMP ping or connection to the ECHO port (Port 7)
- Port Scan - tests for open ports on the managed device, reporting the port status
- HP iLO - manage HP Servers through the use of RIBCL commands via a connection to their embedded integrated lights out card
- WMI - manage Windows servers remotely using Windows Management Instrumentation.
- Virtualization - manage VMware vCenter, ESX, ESXi and VMware Server installations using the same user interface as you do for all of your other non virtualized devices.
- SQL - Query your application database tables to ensure that they are still healthy.
- Cyclone WinConsole™ - a Windows agent which provides:
- a command line interface for performing rudimentary commands (e.g. log off user, reboot system, show processes etc)
- monitoring of the Windows event log
- monitoring of application log contents
- monitoring of files (indicates whether a file exists, when it was last updated, accessed etc)
- monitoring of Windows service status
