Telnet

Use Telnet to manage your device, either directly, or Out-Of-Band via a terminal server to a serial console.

Connect to your device and execute shell commands on the device, do this directly to the device, or via a network connected terminal server to the serial port on the device.

Typical devices that you would use Telnet for are:

• Bridges,
• Routers,
• Managed Switches,
• Embedded Operating Systems (Telephones, Kiosk systems etc.)
• Terminal servers, that connect to legacy systems that support serial consoles, or even serial consoles on your network routers and switches
